You are not alone. There are many users with Retina screen iMacs/MBPs that are complaining about poor audio performance (last core/thread spikes on the CPU meter and audio glitches/pops when using software monitoring and recording). Try to do the following and see if it helps a little:

1. Go to System preferences => Monitors and change the color profile to sRGB.
2. right-click on the Logic Pro X app in Finder, choose 'get information', then check 'open in low resolution'. LPX will not look very nice but it helps to improve its audio performance.
